Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a great Tuesday. I had a chemistry test AND a French test today, which I’m not too sure I’ve done well on, and tonight my mum is attending my parent’s evening while I’m at dance. Fingers crossed it goes well, haha 👍 Hope y’all are having a better week than I am!
For today’s Blogmas post, we’re going to be talking about all the reasons why I love December, and Christmas time in general. I always say that it’s my favourite time of the year, but I have so many reasons why! Today, we’re going to be exploring that. So without further ado, let’s get started!
ALL THE FUN ACTIVITIES
There is SO MUCH going on at Christmas time. School concerts, dance exams, busking, pantomimes to attend, Secret Santa get-togethers, family reunions, ice skating, markets, lights to see, and so much else!
I always have a packed schedule in December, and it’s made even crazier with school prelims, as well as the usual dance and music practice all over the place. But this feeling of busyness is something I thrive off, and although it’s stressful I love looking forward to all of the fun activities coming up to take my mind away from everything else.
It’s such fun to go to these events with friends and family, which leads me onto my next point…
Spending time with loved ones
Christmas is the PERFECT time to hang out with the people close to you. My friends and I set aside a day to hang out, exchange gifts, eat brownies and watch Christmas films together. And my family and I always go and see the lights in nearby towns, and visit some kind of Christmassy thing – last year, we went to a huge ice house full of amazing sculptures. It was epic 😍
There is so much to do, even if you don’t want to leave the house – put up the tree, make gingerbread houses, bake cookies, wrap gifts, write cards… all the fun activities that make this time of the year so special. And it’s always more fun with some friends to help you out ❤️
Decorating the house is AWESOME. I love putting ornaments and lights on the tree, covering every spare surface in tinsel, spraying pinecones with glitter spray so it looks like it’s snowed (just me that does that? okay…)
We gotta love the music at Christmas time. Seriously, it’s the best kind of music! Here is a little list of 10 of my fave Christmas tunes and covers:
- Last Christmas by Wham!
- A Winter’s Tale by David Essex
- Fairytale of New York by The Pogues, feat. Kirsty MacColl
- A Spaceman Came Travelling by Chris de Burgh
- Stop the Cavalry by Jona Lewie
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Pentatonix
- It’s Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas by Michael Bublé
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Sam Smith
- I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by Wizzard
- Step Into Christmas by Elton John
Let’s not forget all the amazing food that you can have at Christmas time. You’re totally allowed to indulge at this time of the year – whether that’s a hot drink, a chocolate truffle, or maybe some Brussel sprouts (I think I’m the only person that likes them… THEY’RE SO GOOD THOUGH)!
Christmas dinner is particularly awesome. Turkey, stuffing, roasted veg, and a beautiful dessert afterwards. Basically heaven. And then cold turkey sandwiches for lunch on Boxing Day. Extremely underrated meal, because it tastes even better when it’s colder 😍
I always feel that Christmas is a time that brings people together, and that is truly why I love it. It’s not just about materialistic gifts, but about a celebration of love, friendship, and family. People come together and put aside their differences, and that’s something really special.
I try and take the time to be grateful for all that I have, and thank my friends and family in any way that I can. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I just think this is the perfect time of year to give back a little. Food banks, shoebox donations, toy drives, whatever is going on near you. Spread some Christmas magic ❤️
And that’s all for today! I really hope you enjoyed this post, it was so much fun to write! Let me know in the comments your favourite part of Christmas time! There’s just so much to be happy about.
Have a wonderful rest of the day and I’ll catch you all tomorrow 👍
